Voor deze open call nodigen we kunstenaars uit alle disciplines uit om werk in ontwikkeling te delen bij QRU in Amsterdam Oost gedurende het evenement “UNFAMILIARITIES”.
“UNFAMILIARITIES” geeft de gelegenheid aan een nieuwsgierig publiek om zichzelf in het werk van 4 kunstenaars per sessie te verdiepen.
Bij “UNFAMILIARITIES” maken we gebruik van de bijzondere ruimte van QRU Amsterdam. We proberen een evenement te ontwikkelen in de stad waar het publiek kan reflecteren, resoneren en reageren op de nog fragiele, onaffe en vaak niet gefinancierde werken van kunstenaars. Graag nodigen we het publiek uit om onderdeel te worden van een platform bestaande uit vele disciplines en kunstvormen en te reageren op het getoonde werk.
We bieden de gelegenheid aan een diverse groep kunstenaars en creatievelingen om gedachten en ideeën met elkaar te delen. Het is een potentiële plek van ontmoeting waarbij we verschillende contexten, bubbels, collega’s en professionals met elkaar willen verbinden.
Doormiddel van deze open call willen we een experimenteel platform bieden aan een groep kunstenaars, geïnteresseerde, professional, amateurs en buren en dagen we hen uit om binnen een bijzondere context zorgvuldig op het getoonde werk te reflecteren. Het evenement en platform hoopt een bijdragen te kunnen leveren aan je contributie doormiddel van reflectie.
Het evenement wordt georganiseerd door vrijwilligers, wij kunnen helaas geen honorarium geven aan de participanten. Wel bieden we de ruimte QRU, technische ondersteuning, hulp bij organisatie van zowel het evenement als de installatie, gesprekspartners, hosting van het evenement, publicatie, documentatie en reflectie op het werk aan.
Iedere kunstenaar heeft de mogelijkheid om in de ruimte te werken voor ongeveer 5 uur verspreid over 2 dagen. We zullen voorafgaand aan het evenement alle benodigdheden doorspreken en ervoor zorgen dat deze aanwezig zijn.

For the first time we invite artists of various disciplines to share a work in progress during “UNFAMILIARITIES” at QRU in Amsterdam Oost.
“UNFAMILIARITIES” hosts a maximum of 4 artists each session and a curious audience that may support the state of the process through witnessing and eventually engaging into conversation.
“Unfamiliarities“ comes out of the desire to make use of the beautiful space of QRU in Amsterdam Oost. We attempt to design a space in the city, where fragile, unfinished, maybe unfunded works
that currently are in need of resonance can be attended and nourished. The audience will hopefully become a temporary or long lasting community engaging on a cross-disciplinary
platform. We address a diverse crowd of artists and audiences/ attendants to come and join. Hopefully we won’t all know each other yet from the same contexts, bubbles of colleagues or
professionals.
This is a try-out space giving opportunity for artists, curious people, professional, amateurs,
neighbours to come and join an unfamiliar setting with respect and care. It’s a potential meeting space, supporting artists process, next to institutional, educational or academic contexts,
dominating ways of sharing and dialoguing at times. We hope for our selected artists to invite their community to the event, so that a curious exchange in between different crowds can take place.
The event is primarily meant for the artist to receive something out of the experience of showing and sharing something. It tries to support the artistic process by providing that space. Potential
contributors should thus consider, if it is going to serve their process, since we can’t provide you a fee for your contribution.
What we can offer is a free space, basic technical equipment, management of the event in terms of help to set up, conversation, hosting of the event, publication and documentation of your
presentation and designing a feedback format for you, if you want feedback. Each artist has the possibility to work in the space for at least 5 hours during 2 days and will have a meeting with us where we can go through basic needs of the work to be as much as possible
properly hosted and taken care of.
